This year's workshop is led by Dr. Kyle Keane who is a Lecturer and Research Scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the staff adviser for MIT's assistive technology hackathon!
Co-creATe Chennai is an immersive three-day, cross-disciplinary workshop where participants will collaborate on teams with people who have disabilities to identify ways in which technology can be used to improve their daily lives. This workshop will train students in the Humanistic Co-design Process and prepare them to apply their technical skills in collaboration with people who have disabilities to produce Assistive Technology. Participants will learn about various disabilities and collaborate with MIT students on projects designed with people living with disabilities in Chennai, India.

What is this event?
It's a 3 day workshop to learn and develop Assistive Technology integrating both Design Thinking and Humanistic co-design. You will be working with people with disabilities and keeping them as a focus to create and develop relevant technologies. You will also be introduced to rapid prototyping to try out as many possibilities in the three days.

How much will this cost me?
A small registration fee of Rs.300 will be charged once you are selected for the workshop.

Anyone interested in applying their engineering, design and or business skills is welcome to apply.
Who will I work with at the workshop?
You are free to choose your team beforehand otherwise you can wait to meet people at the venue. You will also be working with a few students from MIT along with a panel that will review your work and offer scope for improvements throughout the three days.

What should I bring along?
Participants should bring their laptops to the event. You will be provided with materials such as cardboard, clay and paper to model out your device, but you are also free to bring your own circuit boards and other materials that you think you may require.
When will I know if I have been selected?
Since we have a dynamic selection process you will find out anytime between the time you apply and a few days before the event.
